New music out this week from a pair of journeymen modern rockers. Lets get started with an emotional love song form The Airborne Toxic Event.
“Timeless” is a big, sweeping, traditional power ballad. Now, before you scream BARF, its not all that bad. Granted, I am a sucker for this band. Billboard dives into the creative genesis behind the song. Its where I lifted this quote from principle Mikel Jollett about dreaming up the track.
“I remember thinking, ‘Don’t write like you’re an indie rock artist or an art-rock band, don’t write like you’re trying to write an Airborne song, don’t try to be you — just write what’s in your heart. It’s cheesy and it’s very Hallmark-y and I want to be like Kurt Cobain and say my whole life’s twisted and darker than that, but my deepest wish really is that.”
Billboard says the song is about “the search for a soulmate and the power of love to triumph over the fear of death.”
The Airborne Toxic Event will be in Vancouver on April 9th at The Vogue.

Cold War Kids return to the land of the currents with a new song called “Miracle Mile.” The new album, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts, is out on April 2nd…. pre-order from iTunes on February 5th.
I am personally enjoyed the new Cold War Kids. Its not rewriting rock and roll history by any stretch, but its a fun, modern, energetic song.
CWKs in Vancouver as well this Spring. May 17th at the Vogue Theatre.
Go with yourself.
