My Mom and Dad brought this poster back for Coral from their trip to Northern Europe. It is a huge poster for such a simple graphic but IKEA had a frame. It’s looking good in our basic basement setup in the suburbs.

And look at that…get our Andy Warhol print from the Stockholm Moderna Museet up and Atlas Genius share a new song… “Stockholm.” Also weirdly…my son Jack is rocking his Sweden soccer jersey this morning while baby dancing to the song, what does it mean?

Oh this song came on soundcloud next. I love it.

Still putting our little home together. I think we need a mini couch and my wife claims we NEED a Vitamix so off on adventures of domestic bliss.

Aloha from scenic Seattle, Washington, USA. I am at my sister-in-law’s place in a town called Redmond. We’re thinking of rolling into Seattle today for a bit and wandering around Belltown. Thrillist had an article…14 best brunch spots and a place called Local 360 looked good. I guess we’ll check that out. Then in the afternoon it sounds like we’ll beat the heat by taking the kids to a river near by for a float and a swim.

I am on my wordpress app while everyone is having a lazy morning. I heard brand new Ought and felt like I should get this song out to you. I hope i can sort out the blog!

Not sure if that embedded. Maybe today you’ll have to enter that into your URL listen the old fashioned way.

New record is called Sun Coming Down and will be out September 18th. I wish it was today! The single or share song is “Beautiful Blue Sky.” A long 7 plus minute alternative meditation.

That’s all I got for now from the road. Rap at you later.

X ambassadors

Trolling the radio charts today and saw that top of the pile in LA is this group X Ambassadors.

The brothers from Ithaca, NY rose to the mainstream conciseness with their song “Jungle” which was used during a Beat By Dre World Cup commercial. The song sold over half-a-million copies.

Their new single “Renegades” screamed to the top of the alternative rock pops in just 5 weeks. Something that is exceptionally rare to do.

Wow, we better hit play on this song, the side-1, track-1 from their album VHS.

British duo Aquilo, will be releasing their third EP, Calling Me, on May 31st.

press release says, ” Once again the band deliver another series of beautifully striking and impeccably produced tracks that deliver an intimacy centred around their cinematic compositions.”

I had to preorder the new Quarterbacks record yesterday. Well I guess I didn’t HAVE to preorder it. But I am feeling the quirky alterna-jangle of the New Paltz, New York’s Quarterbacks.

I fired up the preview on NPR the other day…and the 22-minutes sailed by. Reminds me of college radio music. And that tends to remind me of being young. And I like that feeling.

S/t is out on February 10th.

NPR brought up some similarities to Waxahatchee. Coral is less a fan of Waxahatchee. Says she reminds her of Lilith Fair music? Sure. I dig it…and new music from Waxahatchee is in the pipe! Neat.

Ivy Tripp is out on April 7th.

And then I traveled down the rabbit hole at Merge…discovered some new Mikal Cronin in the pipe. MCIII May 5th

Happy Tuesday!  Hitting a Canucks game tonight. Fingers crossed for a good show from the boys in blue and green.

Oh, can I share a clip from my radio show? This is from Friday when I interviewed a guy on a downtown street corner yelling, “EBOLA is A PLAGUE FROM GOD!”

If radio clips are fucking with your vibe on HypeMachine, let me know in the comments….otherwise, I obviously like sharing my work.

Go with yourself.

Since its Coral’s birthday… here is another best of, about Coral!

morningaftershow's avatarThe Morning After

When I first met Coral, one of my favourite things about her is (was?) her name.  Coral.

I never knew a Coral before her.

I did not know there was a colour shade called coral.

If I was scuba diving I’d be afraid of coral.

I never knew that corals coordinate behavior by communicating with each other.  Whoa, there is probably a life lesson in there about relationships… maybe near the bottom of the wiki, in the footnotes.

There is a band called The Coral.

One day I will visit Coral Gables, FLA… I might even bring Coral, but then, that might be one hell of a trip and fuck with the space time continuum. Maybe Coral would hang in Coral Springs? then we’d meet in Orlando?  I dunno.

I bought Coral a classic 45 single on Coral Records.

One time the…

me and razer

What an odd night I was having.  I was tired and went to bed fairly early.  I was lying in bed thinking about our bedroom and how, of all our rooms it is the one I wish the most different.  Its a combination of boring and… well ugly.

Right now, there is a whole mess of miss-matched furniture and piles of CDs.  Some work out equipment, a dining room chair?  sure.

The room needs a makeover but I don’t have any money to spend on that right now.  Then I thought, “what the hell am I doing, I am dreaming about interior design, what happened to my life?”  At least it was a Monday and not a Friday or that would cause me to wake the fuck up and start drinking.

But seriously, I’ll need to get creative about the bedroom.  Casa La CorJ won’t feel complete until it is…
