In the late 90s and early 2000s there was a band that moderately popular called Staggered Crossing, they had this hit. The band was fronted by a gentleman named Julian Taylor. The band played a lot of shows, toured all over the place and dissolved as bands do after a bunch of years (2007-ish).
Talking to Cameron’s Brewing, Julian Taylor talks about going in a different direction; “I was the singer of Staggered Crossing for more than a decade and all off a sudden, I needed a new outlet. I was also dealing with a lot of change. In a way, I began to really explore music and myself as a musician. Every idea was possible, every genre was open to interpretation, and the revelations have been empowering.”
Julian Taylor continued making music, started a record label, started a family and is back with a new project called Julian Taylor Band. The band recorded the song “Never Gonna Give You Up” in May of 2012. The song received some love on the radio in Ottawa and a music video that generated a few hits.
The song has now found its way to us here in Victoria.
Josie Geuer at Hot 89.9 says, “Once the hook hits, it’s game over! You’ll be singing it all day long. This track is a total earworm and will add interest to any Top 40 station’s playlist.”
