Coral brought me home a magnet from London. It says Baker Street. Get it? Cuz my last name is Baker.
Now this magnet was like 3 pounds and 50 pennies, or pence or whatever English people call their money. That in Canadian money is close to about $7.236.t48.734! Pretty groovy magnet right?
I come home from the Zone today and find my magnet on the counter. I says to Coral, I says, “Coral, why is the Baker Street magnet on the kitchen counter?”
Because it broke. My bajillion dollar magnet broke! England, I want my money back!
do not do the conversion on dollars to pounds.
it will only depress you.
in the UK, you pay about the same price for almost everything in pounds as you would here in dollars. like your $7 coffee shop sandwich is a 7quid sandwich in london.
you just have to accept that shit is expensive there and learn to let go.
oh, and enjoy that pints of beer are about 3 pounds or less. and so you take that as a win for currency (kinda)
London isnt quite as bad as it used to be. A few years ago yeah, it was almost exactly the same dollars or pounds, but its been adjusting over the past little while and for the most part isnt too bad. Tourism shit is a whole other story though, its redic.
