“It puts me to fucking sleep to be quite honest, I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur id like them to dis-a-fucking-pear. It’s so middle man, they’re like fucking lawyers. You need them, but they’re fucking cunts. God bless them they’re my number one customer right so I’m not gonna go dis every fucking DJ. But to say you become this massive up on a podium performer by playing other peoples productions at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it.” – Deadmau5

Pretty messed up how a skinny white kid from T dot has gotten too big for his britches.
I have EDM producer friends in Toronto who knew him before the hype…he was cocky then too.
I really liked what the guys said in his blog “These young producers that are leading the way in terms of production that don’t have a bit of respect for the culture their a part of.” However I am a firm believer that the culture will endure over the fad. So far we ravers have survived 2 supposed “deaths” revolutions in the last 15-20 years alone…and somehow the scensters ALWAYS come back and stick their fingers in it…even when they say they’re so over it.
Maybe it’s the old skool raver in me…but I love the EDM culture. The Limit/Hush was/is like home to me. You can’t duplicate a vibe like that. And as jaded as some of us may have gotten – we still have a lot of PLUR in our hearts…too bad Deadmau5 doesn’t appreciate the culture nor the people who pay his bills.
ha, that was my favourite part… “they are my best customers BUT… wah wah wah.” poor guy, his Dad maybe never played catch with him as a kid.
I was thinking for my DJ handle… DJ Dinosaur.
Now I am committed to it!
well… not knowing really anything about “dj culture” or whatever… i do agree that “I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together”
i actually find the entire dj experience to be dead boring.
but hey, different strokes for different folks.
personally, i’d rather pull out my fingernails than sit through an entire evening of a dj.
so when this guy (whoever he is) says ” it bores me to fucking tears”… i’d have to agree.
except the DJ is playing HIS music. and the DJ is buying his music and presenting his music… so if the dude wants to bite the hand that feeds… all the power to him.
