There is a Stephen Colbert icecream?  And I didn’t even think to look for it when Corj and I went to Port Angeles last week.  RAMPAGE!

Oh Mommy bloggers…

Watch this videoMotrin’s Where Your Baby Commercial

I played this commercial for Coral last night and asked her what she thought.  She said, “meh, its a commercial.”

“Do you feel outraged!?!” I demanded.

“no.”

“Did you think it was cute?” I queried?

“no.”

“Did it make you want to buy Motrin?” I perplexed?

“What is Motrin?”

So I showed her the story about all the outrage this ad caused.

How Twittering Critics Brought Down Motrin Mom Campaign

She said…. “oh, you don’t want to poke any fun at a woman who thinks wearing her baby is the end all.  They take that pretty seriously.”

here is the thing… wearing your baby DOES hurt your back, and make you hot.  It sucks… that is why Coral and I don’t do it.  Maybe they should have directed this ad at Dads, because I would have killed my self if some Dad on the commercial said, “I have to wear my baby because my wife read in a magazine that it is better, but because it sucks, I got to be the one the lugs this kid around to all the organic farm fairs we hit every weekend.  I need drugs to medicate, pass the Motrin.”

These bloggers need to take a Motrin an settle down.  Its a commercial.

But I’ll tell yeah… one day you’ll have a kid and you will enter a world where there are a lot of people who will tell you how to live your life… and generally be outraged on how you choose to do things.  I think it is human nature.  If the person’s heart is in the right place, they have a kids or are related to me or Corj… then I’ll listen.  If you are a crotchety old codger in a jazz restaurant… then you need to zip it!

That said, there is lots of good advise too… and some of it is designed to keep your kid alive.  Doctor people for example, they have lots of good ideas.  So you got to take the good with the bad.  As a rule, I avoid commercials for my baby rearing advise.

Go with yourself.

I think I need to invest in a good sweater.  In fact, there is a whole line of apparel I will need when the some money comes in.

I am filling in for Dylan for the next couple of weeks and each morning so far, I have froze half to death on my drive into the station.  And the weather has been good.  If/when it turns real sour with rain, and wind and sleet and hail, I’ll need a good sweater and some rain pants.  I scootered a couple winters ago and I don’t remember it being so cold.  Especially after my folks bought me a closed-faced helmet.  I must be getting weak in my old age.

One thing I have learned, two days into waking up at this ungodly hour, breakfast is king.  Fried up some eggs at 4 something this morning while watching the news.  Makes show prep so much more fun.  I think I am going to need ot troll a little deeper for stories and write twice as much.  The phones are crushingly slow in the AM and my show is six hours long.

Coral and I watched the Emmys on Sunday night and this clip had us both laughing.

Gossip Girl (yes, i watch it EVERY week) was mucho good.  Coral is reading the books, so she has insight that I can never match.  The show ebded with Dan being frozen out of society by the bullies of the school while Santogold’s “Shove It” played.  Groovy song.

Everytime Corj and I watch this show or Coral puts down her book, she says, “I want to go to New York so badly.”

If I can handle life this afternoon after the show, Corj and I are taking Madelyn swimming!  Then an epic nap before spinning tonight at Hugo’s.  My last Tuesday is October 21st.  I hope to see you down there sometime.  There is talk of moving the night to another club, but at this time nothing has been hammered down.  I think the coffee is done brewing so I am going to say “Go With Yourself” and pour a mug’s worth.
