All week I have V.I.C. Fest artists stopping by to talk about the festival going down this Saturday at St. Ann’s Academy Grounds.
Part of the event features a Song Writers Session where professional musicians critique songs from people who are brave enough to perform. One member of the panel is Kathryn Calder.
Kathryn performed for many years as part of Victoria’s Immaculate Machine before joining up with The New Pornographers. She has also released two solo records and is just wrapping up production on her third album. She stopped by the show yesterday to talk about the new New Pornos record Brill Bruisers and to perform a couple originals.
I love the sound of her new song “Song in C-Minor.”
And from her 2011 album Bright and Vivid, she performed the song “Turn a Light On.”
Go with yourself.
