Vancouver’s Ciele sent us her new song “Sweet Water River.”

She writes that song was inspired by the TV show Riverdale.

Sweet Water River was inspired by the Archie Comics TV series ‘Riverdale’. I’m a major fangirl of all things teen drama, and especially loved the subverted storylines created for the show. I decided to write this song as a response to that. The verses weave in and out of the characters perspectives as they try to work through murder, betrayal and loves lost. In the end, everything leads back to the river, and in my opinion she is as much a character as any of the people on the show. I think this song has a little something for everyone. And a special place for all you Riverdaddies out there! I hope you enjoy this little piece of my world.”

We FINALLY found our way to a Vancouver Whitecaps game. The MLS soccer team could have clinched the Western Conference title yesterday afternoon iwth a win…but alas, it was a 1-1 tie with San Jose.

Next time Caps!

Fun time, the whole family enjoyed the experience. We’ll do it again Whitecaps FC.

My pikachu outfit arrived just in time for Pemberton this weekend Dangerous.

I won’t be the only one up there…turns out these pokemons are really popular again.

and can we also talk about how great this Arkells pic is? I got an advanced copy of their new album Morning Report, so there will be an interview with Max Kerman and some talk of the new record next week on your friendly neighbourhood music blog.

Last night I was DJing at Match (I’m back there tonight and tomorrow)…and was jamming a remix/cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.” Reminded me how much I LOVE the original.

Friend of the blog Ciele also loves the song and sent over her 2010 cover.

and the original. Amazing.

Busy weekend…. DJing, maybe some Spani Pool concession action, Taco Fest, then Sunday up at Pemberton.

Vancouver singer Ciele rocked a birthday and the release of a music video the other day.

The clip is for her song “Ghosts.”

Crossing the water to Victoria. Lindsay Bryan is working on a new EP for 2016…as the year is winding down she shared a song called “Cakewalk.”

Singing about an ending relationship and not even getting the satisfaction of smashing the other person’s will to love again. I feel you.

Thrillist had this silly story about a website that does nothing but pineapple stock photography. A lot of the time I hate the internet, but right now I love it.

Another reason to love all the creative folks out there. Koni’s remix of Obadiah Parker‘s cover of “Hey Ya”

We’re all about the Foals right now at CFOX. “Mountain at my Gates” is sounding outstanding on the FM radio. I am looking forward to their August 28th record What Went Down.  Here is another listen off that record.

From Vancouver, Ciele is mashing up The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran (errrrr O.T. Genasis super much mega hit). “If you’re snitching I go loco!” Seriously…. over a 134 million plays on Youtube. Right, what was I saying, i LOVE THE INTERNET!

Finally… ahhhhh I like that new Nicki Minaj song. I was trolling some remixes today and I liked this one because it stayed pretty true to the original but turned it up just a smidge.

And some mooooore progressive house.

Party on Wayne and Party on Garth.

Ciele sent me her latest project.  Idle Mind from Calgary produced a nice chill track featuring Ciele’s vocals and Paul Francis‘ guitar.

Not a bad chill track.  Ciele vocals, as always, are very pretty.

Find the my blog on Facebook…. go with yourself.

It’s Wednesday, time to track down a cover song for you. This time I did not have to travel far… across the Salish Sea to Vancouver for a song by Ciele.  I believe Ciele is originally from Victoria (or at least went to University here).

Today we’ll have a listen to her cover of Ellie Goulding’s “Burn.”  The song is a pretty breakdown of the chipmunk, glitchy original.

Ciele sings the track as a duet with Vancouver singer Chris Arruda.  We know Chris Arruda from the Vancouver/Ladysmith band The Lion The Bear The Fox.
