Still dreaming about our hike out to Botanical Beach last week.  Spectacular. If you ever find yourself on Vancouver Island, take the drive out to Port Renfrew.

I got an email today from Fraser Valley fuzz riff-rockers We Hunt Buffalo. They signed a pair of record contracts to have their music repped in Canada and around the world!

They signed with Toronto’s New Damage Records and Fuzzorama for their world-wide distribution.

Talking to Exclaim! “We couldn’t be happier to be signing with New Damage,” said Ryan Forsythe in a statement. “For the style of music we’re playing, it is the perfect home. We’re stoked to be on the same roster as Biblical, Cancer Bats, USA out of Vietnam and Black Mastiff, some of our favourite Canadian bands. We look forward to getting this new record out and sharing our brand of fuzz rock with this country’s eclectic music scene.”

In an email to CFOX, Ryan also said a new record and single are on their way, “we’ll be releasing the first track in June.”

We Hunt Buffalo play Saturday in Victoria and Sunday out in Coquitlam at the Hard Rock Vancouver.

New We Hunt Buffalo

Say goodbye to history…. say hello to We Hunt Buffalo.  Everyone favourite Fraser Valley rockers who probably meant to say they hunt Bison, are bringing more of their sludgy fuzz rock on a new single called “Hometown.”

Their Victoria show was cancelled but Vancouver folks can hit a show on December 4th at The Commodore.

I’ve been feeling Portland’s Red Fang the last couple days.  These guys rip…so good that the ONLY thing that would make them better is if they were called The Hooded Fang.

The record is not new, Murder The Mountains was released back in 2011.  Since the Sasquatch 2013 lineup announcement, I’ve been listening to lots of the bands taking part.  Red Fang have stood out as a band I wish I could see there.

The song I chose for you off their album is called “Dirt Wizard,” because it had wizard in the title.

Another band that I think has the potential to take Sasquatch to DEFCON 1 is Sacramento’s Death Grips.  Music to freakout the norms.

Lastly, let’s travel across the Salish Sea and enjoy the latest feature track from the Fraser Valley’s We Hunt Buffalo.

Loud it up.

Modern Rock is doing some fun and interesting things…. it is getting poppy.  Real poppy… like top 40, but made by cool bands/artists.  Its folky.  And gurgling underground, the guitar rockers rage on.  Dialing up the time machine to 1989 and stomping on the fuzz box.

We have been enjoying Fraser Valley band We Hunt Buffalo a bit on The Zone since they’re CFOX Seeds final.  They’re single “The Search” is a quality jam.

The boys will be playing the suddenly World famous Waldorf Hotel on Thursday.  They are also currently readying their next record.

In the meantime, WHB sent me this song showing up on a split 7-inch they’re doing with If We Are Machines.

Pitchfork had very positive things to say about Amherst, MA retro rockers CaliforniaX.

“stompboxed-out mix of run’n’gun hardcore, molasses-thick grunge, and burly classic rock”

Cool.

Back in March, the POWER TRIO released a 7-inch single.  Here’s the flip side “Mummy.”

According to the rags in the know, “Pond Rot” is a fanstastic cut off their new self-titled album (Don Giovanni Records) which came out yesterday.

Hit the blog on Facebook with a wet sloppy “like.”
