a real hero

I love when you’re watching TV a clip of a song comes on and you’re like, “I know this!”

During the CBC’s Rio 2016 Olympic coverage, they air this Chrysler Pacifica commercial starring comedian Jim Gaffigan. It’s funny enough, but the song….I know that song!

The song is from French producer, David Grellier and his project College. The song is from his 2011 ep A Real Hero.

It’s a song I used to play all the time during my time at Veneto Lounge and honestly let slip out of my brain, but because of Chrysler…it’s back!

The song was moderately popular when it was used on the soundtrack to the movie Drive and later Taken 2.

Now it is back in my brain.

Go with yourself.

hiking

My schedule can be a little hectic, especially in summer with work and then DJ gigs…but this weekend, I finally found some time to take my daughter camping!

I could talk about a bunch of things right now, but as always, I don’t have the time or energy to put my thoughts down, just know that it felt good to get out to Mystic Beach with my daughter for some dirtbag gourmet food and sleeping on the beach.

It even rained a little on us for our hike out on Sunday.

On the drive out to Mystic, our record of choice was was Alvvays most excellent 2014 self-titled album.

Go with yourself.

Nashville’s JEFF The Brotherhood‘s new record, Zone, is out on August 12th.

Big, fuzzy, hazy guitar rock riffage over dry humorous lyrics.

They released a third share song off the upcoming record today called “Roachin.” The song features another Tennessee singer, Bully’s Alicia Bognan. Remember, I recently got into them after seeing the rockers at Pemberton.

And you know what, the previous share songs are rad, so let’s revisit “Idiot” and “Punishment.”

Back on the Island today…. wedding at Sea Cider, then a little hike/over night camp with  my daughter, then back to Vancouver Sunday for a DJ gig supporting Daniel Wesley performing a FREE patio set at Personas at the Grand Villa Casino.

Go with yourself.

Philly punks, Beach Slang, have a new song out today called “Punks in a Disco Bar.”

The song comes with the news that Beach Slang‘s next record, A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings, is out on September 22nd.

Lead Beach Slanger, James Alex says of the new songs, “They’re autobiographical, too, but kind of at a remove-I’m not that young kid anymore, but I used to be.  You know how it is;rock and roll is a new crop of 15-year-olds picking up guitars every year and having at it.  There was something really cool about documenting someone elses life, but seeing myself in it.  I suppose that’s why we connect.  We’re all kind of one big gang.”

This song is going into iPod heavy rotation.
