A couple songs that I am feeling right now and it begins with this beauty from Caribou.

Lenno remixed “Can’t Do Without You” and fuuuuuuuuuuf, I love it. Repeat.

Welsh band Catfish & The Bottlemen have been occupying a small part of my brain lately with their single “Kathleen.”

Their record is out in January.

I don’t know too much about Tom Misch, he is young? He’s from London? sure….this duet with Carmody is pretty.

Getting into the latest Caribou single “Our Love.”

Caribou’s new album is also called “Our Love” and will be out on Merge Records, October 7th.

Reading in Pitchfork they talk about “Our Love,” “It’s also a shared, intimate dance amongst strangers in a club at 2 a.m. You worry it might suddenly come to end, even while it feels like it could stretch out to infinity.”

The other record my wife bought for me on Wednesday was one we’ve had our eye for sometime but just couldn’t get the time/luck/money all together to buy it.

You all know my love for Four Tet.  This English electronic  artist has to be one of my favourites of 2010 for sure.

I find his music very inspirational in my quest to one day produce my own sounds.  The music is so melodic and chill meditative (and he samples little kid sounds… so I know down there somewhere, he must be a softy!).

Obviously his style won’t be for everyone.  Its electronic but not really a dance track.  I love this music for my lounge sets at Veneto Lounge or at home when I am doing work or need to decompress from the stresses of the day.

The vinyl package is wonderful.  I love that Coral tracked it down at Ditch Records to add to our collection.  “She Just Like To Fight” was our final selection at Smiths on Wednesday and a staple of my chillwave set.

Go with yourself.

As I’ve blogged about before I have had a minor obsession with the desert of the American southwest, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and what it might have been like growing up in a suburb of Phoenix. Here is the soundtrack to those thoughts swirling around the grey matter of my brain.

My song selection feels on-point for the mood and story I want to tell save for the Ennio cut off the top which my be a challenge for some listeners, and breaks my golden rule of not staring off with a punch or a song more representative of the set. No worries… I needed this song to get me fired up on the mix.

The mix between Caribou and FM Belfast is rather tragic.  Sorry for that.  I have grappled with this list for a couple weeks and have scrapped a few attempts… I had to settle for allowing some mistakes or I’d never get it done.

The FM Belfast song is quirky… but I like it because it is all about the suburbs and being a teenager, which flows into College’s song so nicely.

“its so sexy… to be… living in America… baby, we’re living in America.”  Well done DOM.

The Crystal Castles song I added just this week after hearing it. I just like it, but it doesn’t really conjure any of the emotions or thoughts listed above. Just thought the sound fitted in.
