treble
The Treble from Winnipeg, Manitoba  wore vests and suspenders and came to visit us at The Radio Factory.  They performed their song “Boston” live in the studio.  The song has that catchy indie folk pop thing going on…  Here we go!

I am what I am, I am what I am, a family man.

Righteous.

Now at or near the top of my favourite remixers/producers/bands (I don’t know what you call them)… Flight Facilities hits us with this beauty edit of the Fleetwood Mac song “Family Man.”

Love it… go with yourself.

pearl-jam-lightning-bolt
Pearl Jam is back with new music.  The iconic grunge era rockers will release a new album called Lightning Bolt in October.  Plus they’ll be in Vancouver on December 4th for a show at Rogers Arena.  A couple nights later, they wrap the tour in Seattle.  December 6th at Key Arena.

Here is the first single, “Mind Your Manners.”  Harkens back to maybe a “Do The Evolution” style of PJ. I dig it, some real rock & roll stuff.

What do you think of the new Pearl Jam? Hit me with a comment.

Go with yourself. – Jeremy

Vancouver Island
My man Travis Smyth from former Victoria band (and former Zone Band of the Month) The Luna Riot sent me a message.  The band marches on, in Vancouver now… and a new trippy psych record has been produced.

The Luna Riot will be in Victoria on July 25th at Logan’s (whoa, same night at Inlet Sound at Lucky!) and then back for Rifflandia in September.

They are bringing Vancouver band The Rampant Lion with them!

Let’s listen to some new Luna Riot.

InletSound-NewRomantics-
A group from Ontario called Inlet Sound, will be touring to Victoria.  Look for them at Lucky Bar on July 25th with Dougal Bain McLean & Redbird.

Inlet Sound rock that indie folk thing… you’ll be into these guys if you like Wake Owl or The Lumineers.

Their resume reads: “The band has spent the greater part of 2012 tirelessly crafting The Romantics, their first full length record and in lofty cabins and expansive churches with the help of acclaimed Canadian producer Laurence Currie (Sloan, Wintersleep, Holy Fuck, Hey Rosetta!).”

OK then, let’s hit play on “Young Hearts.”

Go with yourself.

fuzz-cover
I’ve been loving the fuzzed out psych garagey stuff lately.  Ty Segall has a new record out in August AND a metal side-project called Fuzz.

Tell me more internet!

The press release describes it as: “Ferocious, with a sludgy, psyched-out, proto-metal sound steeped in shredding fuzztone guitar, FUZZ more than lives up to its name.”

Then listen to this!

No go… and be with thy self!

Skate Punk
Frank Turner, I already love you… why do you keep making me love you more?

The British Punk Bard, Frank Turner is showing up on a compilation called Skatepunk for Southbank and he covers…. The Weakerthans?  Wow.

See Frank Turner in Vancouver on October 20th at the Commodore.

Jagwar Ma
While we were out there in the sunshine celebrating 146 years of Canadian nationhood… our friends in the UK were getting their boogy-on at Glastonbury.

Glastonbury featured something insane like 2000 acts…. and amongst all that noise, Australia’s Jagwar Ma emerged.  NME magazine dubbed them a “must-see act,” and now that the party is wrapped the Sydney Morning Herald claims they achievedDrowned in Sound also breaks down the weekend’s highlights (hint, they include Jagwar Ma as well!).

Their sound lends itself to some vintage scenes like psychedelic or 90s Madchester.  If you get down to Tame Impala, you should be able to get into this.

Go with yourself.

“Sometimes, wish you were here, weather permitting.”

Classic.  Franz Ferdinand comes back to us with the new record Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Actions on August 27th.

Pretty Franz Ferdinand sounding Franz Ferdinand song.  First listen, I already like it.

I had thought the guys had holed up in Vancouver for the recording of this record… but  there’s no mention of that on Wikipedia, so maybe those recordings were scrapped? or for a different project?

I’ll leave you with a remix.

Go with yourself.

Andrew
Andrew Stockdale made a name for himself fronting Australian riff-rockers Wolfmother.  Now he creates music under his own name, moved to Byron Bay, and records songs in his shed.

On the press release for the record, Stockdale talks about dropping the Wolfmother tag, “It was a name, a brand everyone knows. But I don’t feel comfortable playing as Wolfmother (…) When you write a song, what’s on your mind comes out, what’s in your heart and soul comes out. It’s about your life experiences. I’ve been getting stuff off my chest, expressing ideas and experiences that are personal to me and I don’t want to keep then applying that to the Wolfmother name. I had pressure on my shoulders.”

New record is called Keep Moving and its out in Canada on July 2nd.

Let’s listen to side one, track one, “Long Way To Go.”
