Here’s some new pop alternative from the UK. Band is called Viola Beach.

The hype says; “The Warrington four-piece have already been chosen as one of Annie Mac’s New Names for 2016 and their compelling energy bagged in a Radio 1 session at legendary Maida Vale Studios last November.”

Pretty straight forward.

New music from Filter? OK!

90’s industrial-lite grunge rockers will release their 7th record Crazy Eyes on April 8th.

Billboard Magazine says; “Crazy Eyes is hardly bereft of guitars but there are a substantial amount of electronics and effects in use. The result features heavy industrial crunch and solemn, ambient songs that reach back to Patrick’s time in Nine Inch Nails and the first Filter album, 1995’s Short Bus.”

Young Galaxy share the bonus track from their record Falsework.

and ON AN ON are coming to Vancouver for a show. February 5th at The Commodore with Yukon Blonde.  I love this song.

The Brooklyn 5-piece Fort Lean are getting all the right hype from all the right places. The group will be releasing their debut album in the fall, Quiet Day (October 2nd, Ohh La La Records)

Fort Lean will be touring out west with Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde. They too have a new record in the pipe, On Blonde (June 16, Dine Alone).

Kelowna’s Yukon Blonde are busy getting the world hyped on their new disc, On Blonde, which comes out, June 16th on Dine Alone Records.

The BC band is also part of the Dine Alone 10th Anniversary tour, but they’re playing the Alberta date? C’est dommage. We get James Vincent McMorrow.

Here is the video for their first single “Saturday Night” then I’ll post the new single “Como” and we’ll check out a cut from JVMM.

Possible future band name for my 80s-inspired dance dark pop/chillwave project: Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.  Don’t steal it….

Email from Dine Alone Records, sharing the new solo music from Yukon Blonde’s Jeffrey Innes.  he calls his new project High Ends.  The email did say, “a mix of ‘80s-inspired dance pop as Innes croons tuneful hooks over a slithery backdrop of electronic syncopations and spooky arpeggiators.”

That “80s-inspired” line is sadly turning into the worst cliché in modern alternative. Lucky for me the song leans more toward the “spooky.”

Pitchfork had nice things to say about the song “The Weight.”

“(…)more akin to American weirdos of various unseemliness from Ariel Pink to Jim James, tapping into a bygone era of retro-futurism and resulting in something so out-of-time that it sounds timeless.”

This song by a group called Ought keeps popping up on my Soundcloud feed, and I oddly dig it.

Lastly… another cut from Bastille.  Thinking of featuring this next on the radio.

Aidan came by to talk about his show coming up on Friday AND I am turning 30 this weekend… so I thought, that would be a good place to celebrate.

I haven’t had the chance to see In Medias Res in many years and was wonderfully surprised to hear they were back, active, recording AND coming back to Victoria around my birthday time.  fun.  They made a music video for the song I featured on the podcast.

Working on having The Forestry stop by the studio and Vince Vaccaro and I might go hike into the woods to record the next CRC LIVE from a Forest.

Hey, you’re alright.

Go with yourself.
