I’m in Victoria today. Doing a wedding for a couple from Iowa having a destination wedding on Vancouver Island. How nice.
They have a fun and upbeat playlist. Lots of modern rock, indie rock, bouncy modern house, remixes, tasteful throwbacks, classics. After I put together their playlist I fell down the rabbit hole listening to some other remixes….I could actually drop quite a few but for right now I’ll share two from Cloudchord.

OK, a few more. There are more top 40 remixes.

Hey my daughter had her first swim meet today in the pouring rain. It was just a practise interclub meet…but her first ever race. She came in 2nd! Neat.
Off to Las Vegas in a couple days (one more radio show, one more DJ gig in Victoria). I have already posted up a little itinerary of things I wanna get up to with Coral. It’s hard not to over plan…really I want the trip to be about hanging out, resting, drinking, and finding adventure. But having an idea of what to do will be clutch when our adventure needs a little help being found.
My boss Ronnie recently got back from Vegas and sent me his faves!
Fogo De Chao (off strip – Brazilian steakhouse – my fave)
Jeezus….so many places to eat at. Coral will love the Italian place and probably the Buffet at the Wynn. There’s no way we can do them all….but I’d be doing a disservice if I didn’t find myself in something on this list.
And a song? Working on some playlists to soundtrack out party week in Vegas. Disclosure should make the cut.
Coral and I hammered through Netflix’s Love over a week or so. I ended up loving that TV show more than I thought I would (reviews were meh from my friends). I think I enjoyed it because the awkward nerd Gus kept having sex with Hollywood smokeshows…fantasy stuff. Good for Gus.
The show featured a song from Colleen Green called “Wild One.” I loved her 2015 recordI Want To Grow Up. When I heard “Wild One” my ears perked up…wait, I think it was during a sex scene…yeah I was invested in the moment. Anyways, the character Mickey reminds me of how I think Colleen Green might be? Oh shit, I hope that’s not offensive…like what if Colleen is reading about herself and stumbles on my blog and is like, “fuck you dude, I’m, nothing like Mickey!” I liked Mickey (some of the time)!
And can we just talk about how Bertie is the star of that show?
Vegas in just a handful of days…DJing tonight at Match, Saturday in Victoria (a destination wedding for a couple out of Iowa….neat)…and then Atomic City USA! That I better fix what I can…unless I can do enough crunches for abs between now and Sunday?
Went to Bao Down in Gastown after the cut and they were CRANKING the hiphop.
First off, Bao Down is great…if you find yourself in Vancouver, hit it. Cheap, funky, they serve beers, good. They also won the Chicken Fight V chicken wing contest last Sunday at Lamplighter. Neat.
“We made the video whilst on tour in Europe on a day off in Lisbon. We wanted a video that was very graphic and represented the different textures throughout the track. We really like Peter Pint’s previous work, he had a real strong connection with the track and we’re real happy with what he’s done.”
We have been hammering Jr Jr‘s “Gone” the last few days. I made a playlist the other day to soundtrack our weekend adventures…and it didn’t take very many plays to have the song rooted in my daughter Madelyn’s head. I catch her singing it around the house.
“Gone” has also been part of my sets at Match for awhile now.
Robert DeLong has a remix that he contributed to the Still Going: Gone Remixes ep. Love it.
I am so happy today! A few years ago now, I ordered these adorable cassette bookmarks from some website. Cheap…like $6 for the three. I used them but over time they drifted away. I had one left and my son wrecked it.
But then…my wife fixed the broken one, we found another in an old book that my son had pulled out of the bookshelf and Coral tracked the third down! Three moves, still have all three. Weird, wonderful.
Some nerdy indie rock that reminds me of playing radio on CiTR. The band is called Modern Baseball. The Philly indie-punkers put out their album Holy Ghost last week. I have a song for you called “Wedding Singer.”
No Vancouver show but a couple Pacific Northwest dates in Portland and Seattle.
6/7 – Portland, OR – Hawthorne Theater 6/8 – Seattle, WA – Showbox
