Perfect Pussy

perfect pussy
I was trolling Pitchfork’s Top 100 songs of 2013…. number 37 is pretty great.

The band is called Perfect Pussy.  Some lo-fi punk rock.  Love the noise.  The lyrics in this cut are hard to make out… but they post them, and when you follow along…it’s just whoa.  Good song.

my best friend is back in town. there’s a bad taste in my mouth. her eyes fell low and heavy with shame and cum.
she must have been desperate; she acted so lonely. she is deserving of affection, i am glad that she found love.
what love lays bare in me is energy, so i give up that which keeps me going and i still end up lonely.
sick with loss and shame so i edit for mistakes to determine what i’d done that made her act this way.
she’ll forget her actions. someday i’ll forget her actions. ashes to ashes to ashes to ashes, we will all die someday.
i am full of light. i am filled with joy. i am full of peace. i had this dream that i forgave my enemies.

We all need a remix

Lorde
It’s remix time and a I got a couple beauties for you.

Unlike Pluto remix Lorde’s “Glory & Gore.”

Arcade Fire
Something local… Victoria production team Mid/Side Hustler go for a deep house treatment on Arcade Fire’s “Reflektor.”

Sorry one more… I think I posted this before but I have it on while reading the internet and I loves it.

Also… how about that Hobbit Movie?  Pretty good… the Justin Bieber song that came on during the credits threw me for a loop, but when the bros behind me started booing (or maybe they were booing the cliffhanger ending?) I giggled.

Turns out it wasn’t Justin Bieber, it was Ed Sheeran.

Tokyo Police Club will bring us their third album in early 2014.  The first radio single is promised for January.  But to wet the whistle, the band gives us the humungous album cut “Argentina (part I, II, III).”  a 9-ish minute TPC song?  Strap in and feel the Gs!

So much to like about this song.  There are a few lines that popped out at me.

“Girl I wish we had a conversation,
Face to face.
Because when you speak,
you speak in waves.”

“Oh what a girl I want you wearing my T-shirt,
XL
Yeah!
You wear it well.”

I am so excited for new TPC that I feel like Smiley Miley.  Here we go Cover song FREAK THE FUCK OUT!

krampus
Some things I heard on the radio!

I wonder why we decorate Christmas Trees?  I know, I’ll ask Pol!

Jon Williams raps a rap about eating chocolate. Mmmmmm festive treats.

I tried to make Jadekins feel my Laptop bag…. she would have none of it.

In other news….

I really want to go to here.

The Haxan Cloak

My man Nik posted his top Metal/weirdo records of the year and the only one that I had listened to was The Haxan Cloak.

Dark, meditative, like horror movie soundtrack type stuff.

fitz
Jiving on the positive energy coming outta the speakers here at the radio factory.  Fitz and The Tantrums‘ album More Than Just a Dream came out back in May.  the single “Out of My League” was decent single in Canada (though we didn’t whip it to hard at The Zone).

The new single is called “The Walker.”  Boitano was hoping it was a Walking Dead tribute song… sadly (or thankfully) its not.  Good energy, upbeat, you can tell this song makes people get their boogy on.

young-the-giant-Crystallized
SPAACE BOOOK! Young The Giant hit us with a new single from their upcoming sophomore record Mind Over Matter (January 21st, 2014).

The new song’s music video is a spacey affair.

Bombs-Over-Belgium-www
I really need to hit some lunch before hopping on the air today… but as I was about to shutdown the email, this beauty slid in.

They had me with 70s Punk in the subject heading.

Brooklyn based DJ duder Savador G has sourced 70s Belgian punks Plastic Bertrand‘s “Ca Plane Pour Moi” and pieced it together with the classic Outkast single, “Bombs Over Baghdad.”

This is a real high energy and fun song.

stinkfist

derp…. Day late. I am going to try to make Wednesday the cover song freakout day.

Most Non Heinous is rowdy bunch from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  We know and love a few of their cuts on the radio here in Victoria.  They recently(ish) laid down a cover of Tool’s 1996 hit “Stinkfist.”

Shout out to my man Seamus for the reminder on how great this song is.

I love reading all the year end lists and going back to listen to stuff that skipped over me here at the radio factory.

I wanna start with Waxahatchee.  Pitchfork “Best New Music’d” Katie Crutchfield’s second record Cerulean Salt.  First off, I like the word cerulean.

Rolling Stone had her record at 36.
Spin at 20.
And Paste put her song “Swan Dive” at 43.

I love the song “Coast to Coast.”

So pretty.

Next up Caitlin Rose.

caitlin

Spin described her style as “Here we have She and Him, if She killed Him: Millennial garage rock doesn’t get sweeter, sourer, or more delicately ferocious than this shattered-glass menagerie of bar-brawl-gospel torch songs and gleeful emotional arson.”

Uhhh that sounds awesome.

Spin said this song should be on the TV Show Nashville.

Also so pretty.  I’ll play this for Coral and see if she likes.
