Thank you Boitano for the chance to have so much fun.

Living Life on NO Money?

Mongol was pretty good.  Tells the story of Genghis Khan in his early life.  Follows him as a boy that kinda gets the short end of the stick.  Then as a young man fighting to first regain his freedom, and later to rescue his wife, and later still he fights for freedom (he gets captured again and put in a Zoo… SWA?).  then he unites all the Mongols into a glorious fighting forces and heads West to Russia.  End of epic film.

Part 2 is supposed to come out in 2010.  hmmm, Olympics or Genghis Khan laying into some Christian Knights?

The thing with the movie that sorta irked me is, how come Genghis Khan was such a rad warrior.  When I watched Batman, it made sense… Christian Bale goes off to some secret monastery of shadowy ninjas and beats the shit out of Liam Neeson and swims in ice water.

Granted, Genghis Khan did swim in ice water and live… but the fighting doesn’t make sense.  In the early part of the story, he is little more than a slave or hobo.  Then they fast forward and he’s Heath Ledger in a Knight’s Tale.  They don’t connect the lines.

i-demand-an-explanation

Oh man… I just watched the Knight’s Tale trailer again and it brought the LOLz.

In G n’ R news, this story made me giggle.

Prodigy are putting out a new record, and my man Dave Grohl is drumming.  Like me, he is a Dad and rocks the facial hair.  We’re like twins.

***

James posted this video on his Facebook. Some dude dancing to Beyonce’s “Put a Ring on it.”

I am not too sure if James does a whole heck of a lot of programming at The Peak, or just watches quirky videos all day.

This commercial got sent to me from a Zoner named Gina.  It is four minutes long, but I think worth it.

In the Doghouse

I do spend a lot of time of Facebook, but I am not member of no Facebook army.  WTF is wrong with society?

Facebook Hooligans Trash Brit Ad Exec’s Home

That story is reason #25 why Madelyn is NEVER going on the internet.

Nine Inch Nails is tomorrow night!

Coral and I got a babysitter and are jazzed on the show.

***

Thank you for hitting my Purevolume site.  I posted some audio there the other day and put the link on my blog and I got a few hits.  Thank you for taking the time.

Go with yourself.

I love this picture.

mmm, coffee and toast.  That is what I got brewing at 6:30 in the AM.  Madelyn decided that she would like to be awake at 4 AM.  She is a bit sick so I got up.  I was thinking she might be in for a little cuddle on the couch and we’d fall back asleep but no dice.  Coral isn’t much of a cuddler and Maddy O is her mother’s daughter ergo, I slept on the couch alone and Madelyn explored the living room.  Finally at 6, thankfully afer the conclusion of a mysterious CSI, the monster wished to return to bed.  I went back to my room.  Coral was dead to the world and I laid there for a few moments and relized, “fuck, I’m not tired.”

This is not good, I’ll come down hard later.  Hopefully at the end of my radio show… however the Movember party might get the ace if I am not feeling well.  Maybe there can be a nap.

I think I’ll use this time to watch a movie I’ve always wanted to see.  Mongol.  oh, my coffee just finished the movie is two hous so if I’m to sneek it in before the monstr rises I better get on it.

Go with yourself.

Oh nose, my poor Monster is sick today.  She has the sniffles and I think I know why.

Purevolume: Madelyn is Sick

mmm, I am drinking Rum and Eggnog right now.

I want to write more, but I also want to enjoy a rum and eggnog more.

I am getting in the festive spirit.  I meant to go down into storage and pull out the tree and lights… but I am thinking that I will need to map out the logistics better first.  Miss Monster will rampage everything if this not planned very carefully.

The family and I went to the lower mainland for some family parties and Christmasness.  My Mom turned fifty something (fifty-one seems to ring a bell) so Madelyn wanted to come over and celebrate.  We watched Wall E.  What a neat movie.  I have been reading some pretty heavy blogs today… people’s spirits are down.  I recommend a Rum and Eggnog and the movie Wall E.

USS stopped by the Zone today.  Ash told me to check out his music video for “2 and 15/16th.”  He said it was pretty special.  So I’ll leave with a video and get back to my rum!

Johnny B. Shields is pulling away on the Movember race and is crushing me.  Boitano has also pulled in front of me too!

***

Priestess‘ Mikey Heppner stopped by the Zone today… we chatted about a bunch things that he had recently blogged about.  He is such a dude.  New record from Priestess is coming soon and you better believe you’ll hear it on my show when there is something to play.

***

Band of Horses is also working on some new music which gets all of us here at Casa La CorJ hot and bothered.  When I talk fave bands, Band of Horses is near the top of that list.

I got a call on the Zone phone today from some guy completely outraged that I went on the radio yesterday saying I wasn’t so jazzed on the new Guns N Roses. I don’t think he is a regular listener of the show.  He had “heard” through the grapevine that I had “slammed” G ‘n R so this knight had risen to the challenge to defend Axl’s honour and tell me off.  Turns out my head needs to be “shaked” because it wasn’t clear to me that Chinese Democracy was the “BEST record of the last few years.”  O RLY? He got many facts wrong and we talked it out… I think its all good now.  Maybe its good that people talk about my show with their friends, but getting the facts so off… yikes, I don’t think they were saying nice things about my show.  So I guess they are forgiven for never finding the blog either… then they’d know, I am trying to like G ‘n R and I am an odyssey of discovery.  I downloaded “Better” today.  Kinda good.

One good song on the new G n’ R record… to me that is a triumph as I expected zero.

Heard some Mother Mother on the modern rock inbox the other day.  very nice.  The main dude grew up on Quadra Island.

Corj and I are taking Madelyn to visit Grandma Mom and Grandpa Jack this weekend, so I’ll rap at cha on Monday.  On Monday I am taking a turn driving the Desert Bus!  Tuesday is Straight Up Modern Rock night at The Clubhouse, giving away some Nine Inch Nail Tickets; Thursday is the Movember gala; Friday I shave my stache and then it is the NIN show at the arena; I’ll be broadcasting live outside; Saturday is the Zone’s Christmas Party!

Have a good weekend.

Movember is quickly winding down.  I am just a handful of dollars away from $500, so if you have the time, please hit my Movember page and drop a few virtual pennies into my virtual jar.

My Movember Page

***

I went onto Movember to find my page and I entered “Jeremy Baker” into the search.  There are two other Jeremy Bakers on this planet growing an ugly moustache for prostate cancer.

They are:

Jeremy Baker from Turner, ACT, Australia.  I am not too sure what ‘ACT’ is?  Australia Capital Territory?

The dude hasn’t done much with his Movember page… but has raised $100, so good on him.

and,

Jeremy Baker from Wantage, Oxfordshire, England.  He is doing a little better than our Aussie cousin and has raised $200!

Wantage is famous for being the birth place of King Alfred the Great!

Zoner Capt. Kirk sent me a startling public service youtube video today.

***

I went and listened to, then downloaded a couple a Guns & Roses tracks yesterday.  At first I hated the record, but DW and David Eleanor swear by it… so I gacve it another spin.  I don’t hate it now… but I still don’t like it.  Sorta average.  The track “Chinese Democracy” is growing on me.  Dave says I need to get the song “Better” which is number 3 on the album.   He is telling about an insane guitar part that sounds like a xylophone.

Then he told me about this book “Last Exit to Brooklyn.”  whoa… I think I’ll need to check it out. He no steered me wrong with his last recommendation, “Night.”

We need a David Eleanor Book club to battle Oprah!

Go with yourself.

Turns out Burrito Pie from yesterday was ganked from Mr. Lady.

At first I didn’t know what that is (well, other than who Jimmy James made out with one time on a drunken night in Vancouver).

Turns out it is a Mommy blog?  or a Daddy blog?  I dunno, other than Coral reads this person’s blog and then I was all… “oh right, I recognize it.”

Burrito Pie was delicious last night.  A triumph.  So Mr. Lady, you might not have your gender figured out but your cooking is A-O-K.

Now I promised BCK over at Radio West that this would not be a “Daddy Blog.”  Well, hmmm, I don’t think I promised but he implored that it not “go there.”

So, just  a little link on parenting to  all those single mamas out there.

Twilight continues to dominate the world and soak movie theatre seats across the movieland.  Tween Heartthrob Robert Pattinson was on Jay Leno last night and Corj and I checked it out.  How wonderfully awkward.  I think I want to be a movie star.  I am a fairly fugly dude that can barely act with no proven resume of success.  I think I need more jaw and less moustache.

Corj and I laughed and laughed and then watched Seal perform… and then really laughed.  So Pattinson… you’re alright.  Such a hippy that was never meant for worldwide fame.  He does a lot of drugs. a lot.

Here is a picture of me looking like a vampire.

whoa ladies, back up… this vampire is taken!

In other Twilighty type news,  Robert Pattinson does the folk singer thing (which I think the man is far more suited to) and he has teamed up with a singer/folky type from Vancouver named Sam Bradley.  On New Year’s Eve, Mr. Bradley will be perforing in North Vancouver and Corj and I were thinking of going.  Perhaps you fine Mainlander types that are as equally obsessed with Twilight as my lovely finacee will want to do a field trip with us.

FUCK, I keep splilling coffee on myself.  Get it together man.

Go with yourself.

mmm, Mom and babe are making dinner tonight.  How does this sound?

***

Burrito Pie

2 pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 4 oz. can diced green chili peppers
1 10 oz. can Rotel tomatoes with green chiles
1 16 oz. jar taco sauce
2 16 oz. cans refried beans
12 8-inch flour tortillas
9 ounces shredded Colby/Jack cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a large skillet over medium heat, saute the ground beef for 5 minutes. Add the onion and garlic, and saute for 5 more minutes. Drain any excess fat. Mix in the green chile peppers, tomatoes with green chile peppers, taco sauce, and refried beans. Stir mixture thoroughly, reduce heat to low, and let simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Spread a thin layer of the meat mixture in the bottom of a 4 quart casserole dish. Cover with a layer of tortillas followed by more meat mixture, then a layer of cheese. Repeat tortilla, meat, cheese pattern until all the tortillas are used, topping off with a layer of meat mixture and cheese. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheese is slightly brown and bubbly. Yield: 16 servings
