“It puts me to fucking sleep to be quite honest, I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur id like them to dis-a-fucking-pear. It’s so middle man, they’re like fucking lawyers. You need them, but they’re fucking cunts. God bless them they’re my number one customer right so I’m not gonna go dis every fucking DJ. But to say you become this massive up on a podium performer by playing other peoples productions at the same speed as someone else’s productions and fading between the two of them, I don’t get it.” – Deadmau5

Some of my faves spinning on the home hard drive according my Last FM page.
The new Dudes song “Pretty Lies” is so darn good, it has inspired me to fire up anything Dudes that I have at home, anytime I am at home. The only reason I don’t listen to the dudes right now, is if I have Vancouver fuzz masters Japanadroids going, or “1901” from Phoenix.
Ringtones are dumbest (or maybe greatest?) invention.
Now, I value my money. When I am walking down Douglas Street and some man puts out his hand to ask for money, I say, “sorry man, I value my money.” You’d never catch me… maybe… lighting money on fire. Wouldn’t happen. Coral wanted to buy some jars today to put the coffee in to keep it fresh, they cost like, $3 or $4 bux maybe? maybe? I was all, “no, I value my money.” And after all that… the Airborne Toxic Event battles through my strong defense and I download “Sometime Around Midnight.” The charge? Three dollars and fifty cents. What do I get? 15 seconds of the intro! WTF? I can download the song, all of it, in stunning MP3 quality for a buck!
Burned… I had to download another ringtone… so yeah, now when you phone, 15 seconds of “Panic Switch” blares at me and I’m $7 poorer. And hopefully wiser. RINGTONE!
I think, when I’m hanging out with the Airborne Toxic Event at the Sasquatch Music fesitval next weekend, I’ll mention something to them.
The Replacements are a band I play when I am sad. I was sad after the Canucks lost to Chicago last week.
My cousin Monica is getting married! whoa! to a cop! whoa. Chris (the cop) is a good man, he showed me how to make a grown man cry with a simple maneuver to the nose. Seriously, he made me cry, it works. On their wedding website I A: RSVP’d (I’ll be rocking the stuffed chicken) and B: listened to some Peter Gabriel. They have one of my favourite songs, “In Your Eyes” streaming.
James Taylor? SWA? I like him… but I don’t know why I played so much last week. weird.
Phoenix is so hawt right now on The Zone @ 91-3. Sometimes I bring my work home with me. The video is that Youtube clip waiting for you at the top, great view… so if you skipped it because you think your time is more valuable than that three minute gem, your wrong, its not, click the video already.
The Rev came on after something else I was listening to, and I kept that party going.
Flo Rida. Yeah. What? I like him.
and I end my playlist with some Pinback, because…

Click and Listen to: Inside the Producers Studio – Dave Sawchuk
I don’t know if this will be a regular feature or not, but the above audio snip is from some “tape” that I had for a commercial I made for Soprano’s. Everyday before my radio show, I come a few hours early, and sometimes our producer Sheldon gives me a couple commercials to make. Helps me keep my skills up in case I need to fill in for Sheldon. I’m not very good so I generally get basic spots to craft… and usually Sheldon has already recorded the announcer. When I get the audio to make the spot, it is never edited or a simple read of the copy. There is always some sort of story or banter that Sheldon has with the “talent.” I always chop it out to make the commercial obviously, but sometimes the little stories are interesting and the people telling them forget they’re being recorded. Since the announcers are very comfortable and having a real one-on-one conversation with Sheldon, the style is different than you might find on a radio show and I personally find them interesting.
As I find stuff worth sharing, I’ll post it here as “Inside the Producers Studio.”
oh and that band… Norglen? Here they are.

Brand Autopsy is a blog I have on the blogroll that lately hasn’t being doing much for me. I almost aced it, but then they featured this hilarious gem of a clip.

David Eleanor was talking about this trip of a music video today on the inbox.
***
Couple groovy things I wanted to share about the wedding planning.
Coral was made aware of this great offer from Mandalay Bay. Unfortunately it does not run while we’re there, but hopefully there might be something like it. The Lion King will be playing? Hakuna Matata!
And my Mom was checking out the West Jet website, and there will be some savings there for the wedding.
West Jet Group and Wedding Flights
I’ll get on calling West Jet and getting that figured out by the end of the week. I think we’ll wait to book at Mandalay Bay till some Fall specials come out. I think Vancityrockgirl said that we should start seeing them soon… or early summer.
The other thought I am having is that I might book the whole week off… and after the wedding and all the partying it might be nice to drive around the desert. It was the plan to do the “circuit” anyways… but now I am thinking it might be fun to try something more ambitious, like a drive to Reno, or else maybe to Laughlin or even Arizona. If time and money were no barrier, then I’d go to California and visit the Salinas Valley and explore all the areas of “East of Eden.” Might be a little ambitious for me… maybe I’ll visit the Salinas Valley when I’m an old man on my motorcycle (or scooter).

Hi There
This is a really silly thing to email you about, but THANKS for saying what the title & artist of a song is immediately before you play it – it’s so logical that it’s so stupid that radio ever did it any other way.
Thanks also for being the best radio station I’ve found since coming to Vancouver from Australia.
Cheers
