Brand Autopsy is a blog I have on the blogroll that lately hasn’t being doing much for me. I almost aced it, but then they featured this hilarious gem of a clip.

David Eleanor was talking about this trip of a music video today on the inbox.
***
Couple groovy things I wanted to share about the wedding planning.
Coral was made aware of this great offer from Mandalay Bay. Unfortunately it does not run while we’re there, but hopefully there might be something like it. The Lion King will be playing? Hakuna Matata!
And my Mom was checking out the West Jet website, and there will be some savings there for the wedding.
West Jet Group and Wedding Flights
I’ll get on calling West Jet and getting that figured out by the end of the week. I think we’ll wait to book at Mandalay Bay till some Fall specials come out. I think Vancityrockgirl said that we should start seeing them soon… or early summer.
The other thought I am having is that I might book the whole week off… and after the wedding and all the partying it might be nice to drive around the desert. It was the plan to do the “circuit” anyways… but now I am thinking it might be fun to try something more ambitious, like a drive to Reno, or else maybe to Laughlin or even Arizona. If time and money were no barrier, then I’d go to California and visit the Salinas Valley and explore all the areas of “East of Eden.” Might be a little ambitious for me… maybe I’ll visit the Salinas Valley when I’m an old man on my motorcycle (or scooter).
Go with yourself.

David Eleanor sent this email with the subject heading, “How to Revolutionize Radio: Intro the Song?”
A must read for anyone in the industry.

Hi There
This is a really silly thing to email you about, but THANKS for saying what the title & artist of a song is immediately before you play it – it’s so logical that it’s so stupid that radio ever did it any other way.
Thanks also for being the best radio station I’ve found since coming to Vancouver from Australia.
Cheers
Aroha

“I’d think there are degrees of greatness,” Adam said.
“I don’t think so,” said Samuel. “That would be like saying there are is little bigness. No. I believe when you come to that responsibility the hugeness and you are alone to make your choice. On one side you have warmth and companionship and sweet understanding, and on the other – cold, lonely greatness. There you make your choice. I’m glad I chose mediocrity, but how am I to say what reward might have come with the other? “

I need a strong drink and a Replacements record pronto.
Now the question is; if the Chicago Blackhawks cut the head off the Vancouver Canucks, do they gain all their fans just like in Highlander?
Like any Canucks fan, I am a little bummed on the outcome, but there was a point in the season when the Canuck haters didn’t think they’d make the playoffs. One division title later and here we are scratching our heads not quite understanding how Luongo could let in 7 on the biggest game of the year.
I could pick apart the game and the series all day, but I think I’ll utter the phrase that has been uttered for generations around this time by Canucks fans, next year.

Seth Godin says to own your brand. Meaning, to make up a word to describe what you do, so that way it costs you far less to dominate search and generally be the top of the mind name for what you do.
Since I am my own brand… I guess, like any band or creative force, I own my own brand. When I goggle me, I am first on the list! huzzah!
Sadly, its my MySpace that comes up before this blog, but the blog is number two.
On my old MySpace blog back in the halcyon days when people actually used their MySpace accounts, I did a feature called “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” I think part of me wants to resurrect that feature so I can talk about news articles I come across like this gem: Teen with No Licence, High on Drugs, Crashes Car
This kid packs the bongs, takes a puff then decides its a good idea to take Mommy and Daddy’s car for a spin. He pulls an illegal U-turn and causes a man riding a Harley to t-bone the car. The rider flies over the hood and is injured. Then the hilarity ensues:
The teen was given a ticket for driving without a valid licence and unsafe U-turn and was also issued a 24-hour suspension for driving under the influence of marijuana.
A 24-hour suspension? The kid doesn’t even have a licence… how about a forever suspention till he figures out life and takes the test like everyone else.
What makes this story even more tragic is that a Harley driver was injured… and after my broadcast from Steve Drane Harley Davidson, I have a new goal.
01) Learn Graphic Design and Create a Media Press Kit for Myself
02) get Married
03) achieve a University Degree
04) Own a Harley!
as you can imagine, I have a kinship with my fallen rider.
and in case you’re wondering what sorta bike I’ll want to upgrade the scooter too: Harley Davidson Nightster

I’m not married to THIS bike by any means, but something small and classic looking like it. There was a ton of bikes at Steve Drane that I instantly fell in love with.
OK, put the dreams down, back to the brass tax of life.
Wedding
Coral and I will be booking at Mandalay Bay. Vancityrockgirl (who happens to own her own brand) is going above and beyond and sharing lots of great rates and ideas on how to save some $$$ for the Vegas Wedding adventure.
24 Hour Relay For the Kids
the Fourth Annual Mankini Car Wash is going down this Saturday!
Saturday, May 16:
Mankini Carwash
Time:11:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Corner of Glanford and Vanalman
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day yesterday crushed. It was almost a Father’s day too… such a perfect day off with my girls. Mads spoiled Mom with lots of presents and then she helped me whip up some eggs benny for the future Mrs. Baker.
We watched Zathura! Nice… and a commercial I voiced came on the TV which made me feel like a rock star.
In the afternoon, we took a walk along Dallas Road and drive through Oak Bay looking at all the houses we hope to one day be able to afford.
Then Alix came over to craft some brilliant ribs and Coral’s family came over for dinner and a spirited game of World Monopoly… which I won!

Alright, I gotta get ready to hop on the radio for a radio show.

So it has been decided that Corj and I will be getting married on October 11th in scenic, historic Las Vegas, Nevada.
The talk was to stay at and get married at Mandalay Bay. However, after some searching and digging… Mandalay Bay is expensive. So… here’s what’s up.
If you are coming to the wedding, or maybe you don’t know me well enough to come to my wedding… but let’s say you were my friend… then the question is, where should we all stay?
Last May, Natalie and Tyler got married in Vegas and it was an outrageously fun time. We stayed at the Flamingo, Coral and I know this place to be good (and likely we’ll be saying the “I do’s” in one of the gardens there). Coral and I made a short list of Casino’s that we like for cost/pool/location/family friendliness. What do you think?
01) Mandalay Bay – Best Pool on the strip. Seriously, look at it from space on Google Maps, it crushes every other casino. Sadly, one of the more expensive hotel’s and located at the beginning of the strip so not as central.
02) Flamingo – The cheapest of the decent hotels, great pool, centrally located, likely having the ceremony in the garden here. Downside really is that Corj and I already stayed here for Nat’s wedding and we were thinking of trying a new place.
03) Monte Carlo – Whoa… Coral and I hadn’t really thought of it till we searched “best pools in Vegas” and this place ranked just behind Mandalay Bay. Central location, good price. ***Natalie says that is beside the City Center mega project construction which could be a problem and the pool is in shade a lot of the time.
04) MGM Grand – Epic Pool, alright rooms, a little on the more expensive side, alright location.
05) Luxor – The pyramid one. Also down at the end, bit not as end of the strip as Mandalay Bay. Neat rooms… alright pool, alright price.
06) Mirage – Lush pool just like Flamingo. Centrally located, OK price.
What are your thoughts? if you are planning on coming to the wedding, where would YOU like to stay?… and don’t be shy. Coral and I are going to book next week or the week and your thoughts and ideas will make the difference! huzzah.

some thoughts from Vancityrockgirl that she posted on my Facebook:
of the hotel options listed, mandalay bay is definitely the best hotel and the nicest pool.
second choice would be the mirage. newly renovated rooms and pool area. their “bare” pool is very hot right now… lots of celebs.
flamingo is great, but as you said, been there, done that. so i don’t need to tell you anything about there.
luxor sucks. rooms are very old and run down and the pool area is very basic.
mgm has a great pool area, but the rooms are so-so. if you decide to stay here, upgrade to a suite. i’d avoid the basic rooms. … Read More
monte carlo is a great hotel, i love it there…. and the pool area is great… but (and this is a BIG BUT) it is currently totally shaded all day long because of the mammoth construction next door at city center. the rooms are not quiet because of the construction and the pool area doesn’t get sun anymore. total bummer, but that’s why you see their rates so cheap.
lso, (and perhaps most importantly) keep in mind that when you book direct with the hotel, you can cancel your reservation with no penalty. promo codes for october won’t come out until the end of summer (prob august), so i’d book and then keep an eye out for deals and either change hotels in august/september or get your rate matched to the current promo rate.
if you book with a 3rd party (expedia etc) or a package, you will not have this option.
