oh my poor one is sick. I woke up to Coral sleeping on the couch with Ellen on the TV and the Christmas Tree blinking away.

Yesterday on the ZAS I called Erick Thompson from A Morning. If you remember from a previous post on this here blog, it seemed to me that Erick and Astrid were poking some fun at my lame MO without dropping all the facts on the A Morning viewers.
I called Erick up on his cell phone yesterday afternoon.
Jeremy Chit Chats with Erick Thompson
Well god bless ’em, he set the facts straight this morning on A Morning Show.
And yes Astrid, being on the Zone Afternoon Show DOES make you important.

Johnny B. Shields is pulling away on the Movember race and is crushing me. Boitano has also pulled in front of me too!

Priestess‘ Mikey Heppner stopped by the Zone today… we chatted about a bunch things that he had recently blogged about. He is such a dude. New record from Priestess is coming soon and you better believe you’ll hear it on my show when there is something to play.
***
Band of Horses is also working on some new music which gets all of us here at Casa La CorJ hot and bothered. When I talk fave bands, Band of Horses is near the top of that list.

I got a call on the Zone phone today from some guy completely outraged that I went on the radio yesterday saying I wasn’t so jazzed on the new Guns N Roses. I don’t think he is a regular listener of the show. He had “heard” through the grapevine that I had “slammed” G ‘n R so this knight had risen to the challenge to defend Axl’s honour and tell me off. Turns out my head needs to be “shaked” because it wasn’t clear to me that Chinese Democracy was the “BEST record of the last few years.” O RLY? He got many facts wrong and we talked it out… I think its all good now. Maybe its good that people talk about my show with their friends, but getting the facts so off… yikes, I don’t think they were saying nice things about my show. So I guess they are forgiven for never finding the blog either… then they’d know, I am trying to like G ‘n R and I am an odyssey of discovery. I downloaded “Better” today. Kinda good.
One good song on the new G n’ R record… to me that is a triumph as I expected zero.

Heard some Mother Mother on the modern rock inbox the other day. very nice. The main dude grew up on Quadra Island.

Corj and I are taking Madelyn to visit Grandma Mom and Grandpa Jack this weekend, so I’ll rap at cha on Monday. On Monday I am taking a turn driving the Desert Bus! Tuesday is Straight Up Modern Rock night at The Clubhouse, giving away some Nine Inch Nail Tickets; Thursday is the Movember gala; Friday I shave my stache and then it is the NIN show at the arena; I’ll be broadcasting live outside; Saturday is the Zone’s Christmas Party!
Have a good weekend.

Thank you to Tyson for all his work on http://www.jeremybaker.ca . Tyson’s band is playing at Element on November 10th. The boys will be giving me a chance to rock the mic and talk some politics plus I’ll be DJing between sets. Please come. If you want one of my groovy posters I’ll be sure to set you up.

I have been getting so many positive reviews on the design… and I must say that the kudos belong to Evan at Metropol.
Steve and Evan made this for me and the price was mighty fair. If you ever need to brand your business or bring awareness to a cause, please consider the boys at Metropol.
and now it is time for me to get ready fpor the big show this afternoon… Tomorrow, a special Halloween presentation, Satan on the Zone. 4PM till 6PM on my show.

The Zone Phone was fired up last week when it came to talking about a recent BC Supreme Court ruling that lets people camp in the park.
Purevolume: Tent Cities / Jeremy can NOT grow a mustache

I got an email from a Zoner named David.
Jeremy;
I understand the homeless situation, and with closing mental health and shelter beds, we’ve intensified their plight. But parks are not the solution. You camped, you moved on. Did you plant a vegetable garden on the lawn of a park in Thunder Bay? (My hometown). Did you dig a latrine?
You were a transient, not a squatter. You said “The parks are for everyone, even the homeless guys…” or words to that effect. You’re right. But this camping is NOT using the PUBLIC parks for their intended purpose, and that’s wrong. I suggest that when a tent city is set up, it denies use of that portion of the park to the remainder of the public and that it is illegal to deny me and my family that access.
This judicial ruling may be the best thing to happen to homelessness. I’ll bet the backlash will trigger the powers to be to open the mental health beds again. Then there will be adequate beds for those who chose to live in this fashion.

I am very happy to report that I will be a judge for the 2009 Juno Awards. Best Children’s Album. Right-O.
and the lobbying begins with this epic video from Zoner Wendy and her son Evan.

AJ recently had her first son, a boy named Byron. And like me, little Byron enjoys some AC/DC… or the alphabet. I enjoy both, equally.

The Zone is asking, What Would You Do for Nine Inch Nail Tickets? Today we have two Zoners going to head to hea don the Zone Phone in a battle of attrition. They must sing “Row Row Row Your Boat” on the Zone Phone, longer than the other dude.
Here is Devon really going for it.

I have updated my Pure Volume page with a new clip from my radio show. I had a cute attack when Drew and Jordin called into the show to request a song.
Please have a listen: KIDS / Safety Buzz / Bon Jovi

A neighbour in my building moved out yesterday. Not normally a big deal as one of those there facts of life is, people move. But I am really going to miss this neighbour. Turns out, it was his wireless internet connection Coral and I were logging on to.
Coral and I had a minor panic attack when the laptop went dead yesterday. We decided to be grown-ups about the whole thing and get our very own wireless router machine.
Not as painful as I thought it would be. Coral set the thing up while I was at work. She thinks it would be a good idea to put some security on our connection… because you know, sometimes neighbours will log onto your unsecured network. devious.

I have decided that I will run for Esquimalt Town Council. If you live in Esquimalt or know someone that does, I sure would appreciate their vote. I have yet to see results from the last election so I am not sure how many I’ll need to win. The population of Esquimalt is 17,000ish so I don’t think it will take too many to squeak in. I have been researching like crazy on some of the major issues effecting affecting our little town. I have some ideas and some things I’d like to see. I have a vision for the sort of community I want to live in. I need to articulate the concepts and make sure i have the facts to back it up.
The next step will be to get the papers signed and delivered tomorrow. Write my platform and then think of how I can get my name out there on a zero dollar budget (or, almost zero). I think I will try to lean on my buddy Ted or maybe Tyson for a website so I can post my platform and then it will be a matter of creating a flier and walking around my neighbourhood handing them out. I figure I’ll campaign really hard in my part of town and try to touch base with as many neighbours as possible. I’ll forgo the whole sign thing unless some Santa Claus type person drops some coin on me. A Facebook group will be created and I think I might try a pub night. I ran before in Coquitlam and pub nights were a great fundraiser/mixer.
If you have any ideas or thoughts, I’d really appreciate it.
